Overview

Natura, an AI and hardware startup, has unveiled Interface, a new smart ring designed specifically for the emerging era of AI agents. Priced at $99, the device allows users to interact with artificial intelligence through simple finger gestures and voice commands, eliminating the need to constantly reach for a smartphone.

The ring combines consumer hardware capabilities with advanced agent connectivity, enabling tasks such as scheduling, information retrieval, and device control. Beyond its AI functionalities, Interface also serves as a comprehensive health tracker, monitoring metrics including heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep patterns, and daily activity levels.

Pre-orders are expected to open next month, with initial shipments scheduled for December or January. The launch represents a significant shift in how users might interact with personal technology, positioning the ring as a continuous, wearable interface for digital assistance.

Product Design and Capabilities

The Interface ring was developed by Natura founder Carlo Edoardo Ferraris, who previously established the tech accessories company Rolling Square. Drawing on years of experience in consumer hardware, Ferraris recognized that rapidly advancing AI required a new type of interface—one that mirrors how humans ask requests of each other rather than navigating complex screen-based menus.

"Over time, we evolved to an understanding where you really want to have access to your agents 24/7. You don’t want to have even one hour of your day where you cannot access them."

The form factor was chosen deliberately to ensure the device is worn constantly. Unlike earbuds or smartphones, a ring is an extension of the user’s body, remaining on the finger during showers, sleep, and physical activities. This continuous wear ensures that AI agents are always available for immediate interaction.

At launch, the ring will connect with a suite of major AI platforms and agents. Compatible services include Meta’s Muse, Instinct, Grokbot, Claude, and ChatGPT. Users can specify which agent handles particular tasks, allowing for specialized assistance across different applications. For instance, a user might direct Claude to write code, Instinct to book travel reservations, and Grokbot to handle miscellaneous queries.

Responses from these agents are delivered through multiple channels. Users can listen to replies via connected headphones, view summaries through iPhone Live Activities, or access detailed information via the NatureOS companion app.

Use Cases and Future Vision

Natura envisions Interface enabling a wide array of everyday tasks that currently require screen interaction. For example, a user going for a run could verbally instruct the ring to start tracking their workout. Upon waking, they could ask for their daily schedule. In more domestic scenarios, the ring could reorder household supplies like shampoo or turn off televisions and set alarms at bedtime.

The device also supports professional workflows. After recording a meeting, users can request that the AI agent transcribe and send notes to colleagues. Ferraris believes that most computer-based tasks—including filling out forms, messaging, file management, and presentation drafting—will eventually be handled through voice requests to AI agents rather than manual input.

"Ultimately, the main interface between users and technology is going to be the ring."

Ferraris acknowledged that this transition will not happen overnight. He noted that the initial target audience will primarily be tech-savvy individuals who already utilize personal AI agents. However, he predicts that within approximately a year, the majority of consumers will have access to personal AI assistants, making the ring a relevant tool for a broader market.

While Interface is Natura’s second hardware product—following the HumanPods, AI-enabled earbuds—the company concluded that a ring offers superior utility for constant agent access. The evolution from earbuds to a ring reflects a strategic pivot toward a form factor that demands less attention and offers greater permanence on the body.

Pricing, Health Tracking, and Market Position

Although the manufacturing costs for Interface are comparable to established competitors like the Oura Ring and Samsung Galaxy Ring due to shared component supply chains, Natura has opted for an aggressive entry price. The $99 launch price is significantly lower than many rivals, aiming to reduce barriers to adoption and stimulate demand. The company plans to raise the price after the initial promotional period.

In addition to AI features, Interface includes robust health monitoring capabilities. It tracks resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep stages, daily movement, step counts, and skin temperature trends over time. The device is engineered for endurance, offering a battery life of 6 to 12 days on a full charge, depending on usage intensity. Recharging takes approximately 100 minutes.

The smart ring market is currently segmented into health-focused devices from companies like Ultrahuman and RingConn, and AI-focused gadgets from firms such as Pebble and Vocci. Natura positions Interface as a unique hybrid that merges high-quality health tracking with advanced agent communication, meeting recording, and external memory storage.

Ferraris emphasized the distinct hardware engineering involved: "We were able to do that with an incredibly long battery life, which is vital for a product like this, and in a size that is very, very small. The product itself, from a hardware perspective, is very different from anything else that’s out there."

Subscription Model

Beyond the initial hardware cost, Natura will implement a subscription model for ongoing service. After an initial free period lasting three to six months, users will be charged a $9 monthly fee. This fee likely covers cloud processing, agent integration, and app services associated with the NatureOS platform.

The company’s strategy appears focused on volume and ecosystem growth in the early stages. By keeping upfront costs low and providing a trial period, Natura aims to build a substantial user base before transitioning to a recurring revenue model. As the AI agent landscape matures, Interface seeks to become the primary wearable gateway for personalized, on-demand digital assistance.
